Before you start
- An AtomicX account. The free plan works; add AI when you're ready.
- PrestaShop 8.x or 9.x.
- A back-office account that can manage modules (SuperAdmin by default).
- PrestaShop has no built-in field for site-wide scripts, so you need a module, or a developer for the child-theme route.
1. Copy your snippet from AtomicX
- Sign in to AtomicX and go to Insights › Widget generator.
- Under 1. Select Configuration, choose the chat you want on this site.
- Pick 2. Display Mode (Floating corner bubble or Full Page), 3. Button Position and 4. Widget Theme. The Live Preview shows the result.
- Under 5. Integration Method, choose Auto-Initialize. It's one snippet that starts the chat when the page loads.
- Under 6. Generated Code, click Copy.
2. Add it to PrestaShop
- Get a custom-code module that adds code before the closing body tag (for example from PrestaShop Addons).
- In the back office, go to Modules › Module Manager and click Upload a module.
- Drop in the module's .zip file. It installs automatically.
- Click Configure on the module and paste your AtomicX snippet. If it asks for a position, choose the one before the closing body tag.
- Save the module settings.
- Go to Advanced Parameters › Performance and click Clear cache.
The chat appears after the cache is cleared. Clear any CDN or server cache as well.
3. Check it works
- Open your site in a private or incognito window, so you're not seeing a cached or logged-in version.
- Look for the chat button in the corner you picked.
- Ask it a question you know the answer to. Then check the conversation appears in Conversations in your AtomicX dashboard.
Good to know
- Don't paste the snippet into a CMS page or a text block. Those editors strip scripts.
- Developers: if you prefer a template, override
layout-both-columns.tplin a child theme and wrap the snippet in{literal}…{/literal}. Editing the parent theme is lost on the next theme update. - A module keeps working when you change themes. Template edits don't.
Update or remove it
In Modules › Module Manager, configure the module to replace the snippet, or disable it. Then clear the cache.
If something isn't right
- No chat button? Clear your site's cache, check you published or saved, and try a private window with ad blockers off.
- Two chat buttons? The snippet is installed twice, for example in your site and in Google Tag Manager. Keep one.
