Magento integration

Add AtomicX to Magento 2 / Adobe Commerce from the admin panel. No theme files to touch.

Multiple storefront catalogues connected to an order fulfilment station.

Before you start

  • An AtomicX account. The free plan works; add AI when you're ready.
  • Magento Open Source or Adobe Commerce 2.4.x.
  • An admin role with access to Content › Design › Configuration and System › Cache Management.

1. Copy your snippet from AtomicX

  1. Sign in to AtomicX and go to Insights › Widget generator.
  2. Under 1. Select Configuration, choose the chat you want on this site.
  3. Pick 2. Display Mode (Floating corner bubble or Full Page), 3. Button Position and 4. Widget Theme. The Live Preview shows the result.
  4. Under 5. Integration Method, choose Auto-Initialize. It's one snippet that starts the chat when the page loads.
  5. Under 6. Generated Code, click Copy.

2. Add it to Magento

  1. In the admin sidebar, go to Content › Design › Configuration.
  2. Find the scope you want (Global, a website, or a store view) and click Edit. Global covers every store.
  3. Under Other Settings, expand Footer.
  4. In Miscellaneous HTML, paste your AtomicX snippet after anything already there. Untick Use Default Value first if it's ticked.
  5. Click Save Configuration.
  6. Go to System › Cache Management and click Flush Magento Cache.

The chat appears once the cache is flushed. If you use Varnish or Fastly, purge that cache too.

3. Check it works

  1. Open your site in a private or incognito window, so you're not seeing a cached or logged-in version.
  2. Look for the chat button in the corner you picked.
  3. Ask it a question you know the answer to. Then check the conversation appears in Conversations in your AtomicX dashboard.

Good to know

  • A value saved at store-view level overrides Global. If the chat doesn't appear, check the store view's own setting.
  • This field often holds other scripts already. Add to it; don't replace what's there.
  • If your store uses a strict Content Security Policy, a developer may need to allow AtomicX's domains.

Update or remove it

Return to the same scope in Content › Design › Configuration, remove only the AtomicX snippet from Miscellaneous HTML, save, and flush the cache.

If something isn't right

  • No chat button? Clear your site's cache, check you published or saved, and try a private window with ad blockers off.
  • Two chat buttons? The snippet is installed twice, for example in your site and in Google Tag Manager. Keep one.
  • Still stuck? Contact us and tell us your platform and site address.
