Joomla integration

Add AtomicX to Joomla 4 or 5 with a Custom module that loads on every page.

Structured articles, navigation and content modules.

Before you start

  • An AtomicX account. The free plan works; add AI when you're ready.
  • Joomla 4.1+ or 5 with the Cassiopeia template (or a child of it).
  • A Super User account. Other groups may have scripts stripped by Joomla's text filters.

1. Copy your snippet from AtomicX

  1. Sign in to AtomicX and go to Insights › Widget generator.
  2. Under 1. Select Configuration, choose the chat you want on this site.
  3. Pick 2. Display Mode (Floating corner bubble or Full Page), 3. Button Position and 4. Widget Theme. The Live Preview shows the result.
  4. Under 5. Integration Method, choose Auto-Initialize. It's one snippet that starts the chat when the page loads.
  5. Under 6. Generated Code, click Copy.

2. Add it to Joomla

  1. First switch your editor: open your user menu, choose Edit Account, set Editor to Editor - None, and save. The default editor strips scripts.
  2. Go to Content › Site Modules › New and choose Custom.
  3. Title it AtomicX and set the title to Hide.
  4. Paste your AtomicX snippet into the module content.
  5. Set Position to debug. Cassiopeia outputs this position just before the closing body tag.
  6. On the Menu Assignment tab, choose On all pages, then click Save & Close.

If Joomla caching is on, clear it under System › Clear Cache, plus any CDN cache.

3. Check it works

  1. Open your site in a private or incognito window, so you're not seeing a cached or logged-in version.
  2. Look for the chat button in the corner you picked.
  3. Ask it a question you know the answer to. Then check the conversation appears in Conversations in your AtomicX dashboard.

Good to know

  • Always edit this module with Editor - None. Opening and saving it in the default editor silently removes the script.
  • Using a different template? Pick its footer or bottom position instead of debug.
  • Don't edit Cassiopeia's index.php directly. Joomla updates overwrite it.

Update or remove it

Go to Content › Site Modules, open AtomicX (with Editor - None) to edit it, or unpublish it. Then clear the cache.

If something isn't right

  • No chat button? Clear your site's cache, check you published or saved, and try a private window with ad blockers off.
  • Two chat buttons? The snippet is installed twice, for example in your site and in Google Tag Manager. Keep one.
  • Still stuck? Contact us and tell us your platform and site address.
