Before you start
- An AtomicX account. The free plan works; add AI when you're ready.
- Drupal 10.3+ or 11.
- The Asset Injector module installed (usually by your developer or host, via Composer) and enabled under Extend.
- An account with the Administer JS Assets permission.
1. Copy your snippet from AtomicX
- Sign in to AtomicX and go to Insights › Widget generator.
- Under 1. Select Configuration, choose the chat you want on this site.
- Pick 2. Display Mode (Floating corner bubble or Full Page), 3. Button Position and 4. Widget Theme. The Live Preview shows the result.
- Under 5. Integration Method, choose Auto-Initialize. It's one snippet that starts the chat when the page loads.
- Under 6. Generated Code, click Copy.
2. Add it to Drupal
- Go to Configuration › Development › Asset Injector › JS Injector and click Add JS Injector.
- Label it AtomicX and keep Enabled ticked.
- In Code, paste only the JavaScript from your AtomicX snippet: everything between the opening and closing script tags, without the tags themselves.
- Leave the header option unticked, so it loads in the footer.
- Under Conditions, set Theme to your front-end theme, so the chat doesn't appear in the admin area.
- Click Save.
Go to Configuration › Development › Performance and click Clear all caches. Purge any CDN cache too.
3. Check it works
- Open your site in a private or incognito window, so you're not seeing a cached or logged-in version.
- Look for the chat button in the corner you picked.
- Ask it a question you know the answer to. Then check the conversation appears in Conversations in your AtomicX dashboard.
Good to know
- The form rejects script tags. Paste only what's inside them.
- Pasting a script into a block body isn't reliable: Drupal's editor and text formats strip it.
- If your site sends a strict Content Security Policy, it must allow AtomicX's domains.
Update or remove it
Go to the JS Injector list, edit AtomicX (or untick Enabled), or delete it. Then clear all caches.
If something isn't right
- No chat button? Clear your site's cache, check you published or saved, and try a private window with ad blockers off.
- Two chat buttons? The snippet is installed twice, for example in your site and in Google Tag Manager. Keep one.
- Still stuck? Contact us and tell us your platform and site address.
